Dear All,

Mai aur meri research aksar baatein krti hain....

In a lifetime of being wrong at many a point, I was never more wrong. It was I, not he, who was wandering in the periphery. It was he, not I, who lived in the blaze.

“The time will come when diligent research over long periods will bring to light things which now lie hidden. A single lifetime, even though entirely devoted to the sky, would not be enough for the investigation of so vast a subject... And so this knowledge will be unfolded only through long successive ages. There will come a time when our descendants will be amazed that we did not know things that are so plain to them... Many discoveries are reserved for ages still to come, when memory of us will have been effaced.”

“You'd be amazed how much research you can get done when you have no life whatsoever.”

regards,

Ajit P.

Thanks Sir for encouraging

Nice sir

Thanks dear sonia

Research serves as the gateway for knowledge house. We search and search again what we need, we try to learn what we haven't learned before, getting accomplishment of doing something new, knowing other's thoughts and experiences what they gained. Yes, Research provides us analytical skills. But If I say, "Are we following good research practices? or "Doing good and purposeful research? ", it becomes an issue which many don't like. I had seen scholars who can't even explain what they are doing. Quantity increases but quality? Felt, A good research is required to find out the standards of our own (what we called)"RESEARCH".

with regards,
Raaga

Thanks dear raaga for your reply.

 very nice

Thanks dear!!!

Dear Sri Ajit P.

At the very onset, I must confess that I had been following  the discussions in this post from the very beginning.

I was eager to know how many members are interested in such topics as so many of our co-professionals in LIS LINKS community often discuss about Academic Pay scales, UGC's unilateral decision to withdraw project funding for working Librarians etc. etc.

I am rather shocked to noticed that in reality only few have reacted in "Research aspect" in our field.

You have written that Mai aur Meri Research AKSAR Batein Karte hain But in reality, just a handful of people do this.(practically speaking, there is just one discussion from Ms. Raaga and all other are just appreciations which is similar to clicking the "like" icon in face book!!)

I wonder whether it is because of the lack of interest or limitation of abilities.

Here in the Forum I often notice, people are more interested to Answer keys of NET, which otherwise can be explained as a trend for ready made answers which are required to tide over such examinations!!

I apologise for this comment, and I am sure that I might have offended many of my Co-Professionals in this forum but I made this comment because I am really concerned how far are we supposed to go towards uplifting our profession with such limited abilities and attributes??

I have earlier discussed in this forum and I have expressed openly in one of my papers that the academic flavour of our profession is fast eroding I expected huge opposition of my statement; I had been more that happy had my statement been opposed and I had been accused especially by my younger colleagues but it was not so.

Here, I must admit that not only the field of Librarianship, but also other subjects are not free from such attributes! Research, as I see to day, mostly for the purpose of career building in financial perspective. As such, the 'Interest' is no longer an inherent issue ; rather it has become an imposed phenomenon for many among us!!

I often come across research scholars having extremely poor conception about the topics they have undertaken. Earlier I felt that their guides are responsible ( I no longer see a Mentor, they are just "guides" under whom students need to be registered!!) for such degradations. But gradually, as I observed students are no less responsible. It is extremely bitter yet absolutely true that research is not meant for all & sundry. Actual researchers are a class apart from the  aam students (like aam aadmi!) and those who are not interested or are not capable should not be insisted upon in order to retain the sanctity of Research. But with the overwhelming desire beyond what we really deserve have worsened the situation.

I again apologise to all who feel my comments objectionable and will be really happy if more and more LIS members accuse me for maligning their image or undermining their abilities!!

Sincerely,

Siddhartha S. Ray, Calcutta

Dear Sir,

I came across full form of the word THESIS:

T = True

H = Happiness

E = Ends

S = Since

I = It

S = Started

I agree with fulform, and more moreover now as you are aware that fellowship for JRF have increased to its maximum. The government is extending this much but I must say, that students/ scholar is willing to enrol them more in research than to get a job, due to the incresed fellowships. Supervisor should also be blamed because when they need an publication from the scholars then only they are forcing them to write on some burning topics just to increase their credentials too. The relations  of supervisor and students have changed a lot, the scholar what we have seen in the epic "Mahabharatas" where eklavya cut down his thumb just to learn. Want to write more but....

regards,

Ajit P

Dear Siddhartha Sir,

I have always wondered why the two magical letters 'Dr.' are not a part of your name? Though we all know for sure you don't need such prefixes and your knowledge, writing and experience speak volumes of your personality.
