First and Largest Academic Social Network of LIS Professionals in India
The LIS Links Newsletter is inviting Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, researchers, and students to submit an article on the project they have personally designed, developed, implemented or invented as “Articles of Practice” to foster a maker culture in LIS in India. We are looking for documented accounts of real-world implementations, inventions, and digital and physical developments that are pushing our profession forward. If you are a librarian who built a custom app to solve a circulation headache, design a unique physical learning space or launch a digital repository from scratch we want to hear from you.
Themes include, but are not limited to:
i) Web & Digital Platforms: Development of library websites, specialized portals, or discovery layers.
ii) Digital Libraries: Implementation of DSpace, Koha customizations, or unique metadata schemas or implementation in the cloud.
iii) Product Invention: Physical tools, furniture, or gadgets designed to improve library services.
iv) Process Innovation: New methods for information literacy, community outreach, or archival preservation.
v) AI & Automation: Implementation of chatbots, automated workflows, or AI-driven cataloguing.
Please structure your article using the following framework:
i) Introduction: Introduce the topic.
ii) The Challenge: What problem were you trying to solve?
iii) The Solution: Describe the product, website, or system you developed.
iv) Implementation: What tools, software, or materials did you use and how you used it to build the solution? Describe everything through which your designed/developed/implemented innovation can be replicable or understandable by peers.
v) Impact: How has this changed the user experience or library or department efficiency?
Whenever needed insert a high-resolution screenshot, photos of the product, or architectural layouts.
