Selection of Internal Candidates in the Interview

Dear Friends,

Since last few years a trend is increasing to select the internal candidates against open post. We have been witnessing that written exams and interviews are conducted to fulfill the whole process. But pre-determined candidates are selected. Examination process is just an eye wash. Nobody will deny for selecting the internal candidates, but don’t make other candidates fool. If there is no promotion policy in the institutes for internal candidates who deserves for that post, then promotion policy should be formulated for them. The candidates coming from various places of the country are hoping that somebody from them will be selected, but they don’t know that result has already been prepared and they are just wasting their money as well as time.

I have been witnessing case of one of the prestige institute of Library Science in India since last five years. Most of the time, they have selected the internal candidates. The question is that, why they are calling number of candidates for the interview and wasting public money by giving TA to the outsider candidates.

Please give your feedback on this issue.

Dear Anil Sir,

We all know there are lot of problems in our system. It is not only in Library Science field, in most of the other fields you can see this. I think the main reason behind this sort of activities is their reluctance to change. It is upto them whether they want to get ahead with fresh minds/ideas or keep and try the safe ideas. At least sir, you have got a chance to try your luck in their expense. I also went through such feelings, but later adjust my mind and prepared for the next better position available. That's life until we make a system which value quality at its proper level.

i agree your statement, today we are facing in this problem for all recruitment especially in our professional. many of the institute offering only for internal candidate..

Yeah.. I agree with your statement.  I too had suffered several time like this.

I have cleared UGC NET exam twice there is no use of it.  Interview just happened like as well planned drama.  Before interview they determined whom they are going to select.

Due to this kind of procedure, unskilled candidate may be selected for High profile job, and it's affect the standard/quality of our profession.

There should be central recruitment board to selecting candidate's for Government institutions and universities like UPSC :(

Yes sir, you are 100% right, and i can guess you are talking about which prestigious (?) institute. in one case there was no internal candidate... so they have keep vacant that post. this is the worst  situation in our profession.

Yes Sir I agree you. I also had suffered several time like this but what can we do if do u have any idea against this type of problem we are with u always

sir,

I agree with u. It's a big problem of our profession, mostly candidate face this problem. lekin ise kaise dur kiya  ja sakta hai. kyoki sabhi ise accept kar lete hai.

Dear sir, I agree with u. I think we should fight back for the cause. I myself had the same experience very recently. At least there should be transparency in the selection procedure and all the candidates appearing for the interview should hv d rt to know their markings. The state govt. has given some marking system for selection and thought that the selection would be fair. But there also unfair means are adopted.

its very true

Sir,

Nowadays, these trend is also seen in corporate library, where knowledge resources is unlimited

Respect for the Individual is limited

Dear Friends,

Thanks to all of you for giving your valuable opinion on this issue. It shows that everybody has suffered from this problem. All these issues were already highlighted by me in my paper LIBRARIES WITHOUT LIBRARIANS which was published in July 2013 in UNIVERSITY NEWS. Now the solution is whenever and wherever you see such type of anomalies and irregularities, immediately post it on Lis-Forum, Lislink, Library-soup, nmlis yahoogroup and LIBRARIAN AGAINST CORRUPTION facebook group so that these institutions should be exposed. By this we can create social pressure on these institutions. Also post the name of experts and institutions name on these plateform.

Atleast post on facebook group LIBRARIAN AGAINST CORRUPTION. we should start fight against corruption, then only something will change.

Agreed it is true. qualification and experience doesnt matter.

yeah, u know even after working in a university library for 6 years as a professional asstt. my experience was not counted as they require experience of the same post. Is'nt it injustice?
