I wish to add some more things, actually school librarians are serving students upto 12th standard. So, they should be considered as PGT Librarian, with the condition of PG in Library science, that most of the school librarians at present possess. The Physical Education Teachers in Hr. secondary schools are given with PGT scale. Same way Librarians of Hr. secondary schools are also eligible for PGT scale. Think of it, do some thing. College librarian are considered as equalent to Professors, same way sschool librarians have right for it.

Secondly, school librarians are drawing GP of Rs.4600/- which is more than the Professional assistants in college and Universities. So, school librarians should be given weightage for selection for the post of College/niversity librarian if they are are qualified for the post.

Redesignation is highly appreciable, but the assistant post should be created in 3 or more than 3 section school........... itis a bad and sad news for the community.

All of these acheivements are the result of your hard and sincere efforts.
The re-desigbnation and LIS as subject at 10+2 level were the big issues, which I raised earlier with your active discussion with me.
But sir we are still not getting promotion chances and library assistant in two section school. As you know that these are the burning issues for the profession. This argument is totaly wrong that three section school do not have much work load, even it is not related with work load the post is related to daily routien work. I think there is no difference in work load in 3 and 4 section schools.

Please draft a separate proposols for above issues with arequest to onsider the issues for the betterment of library facility and services

Dear Library Professionals,

No doubt librarians are teachers in schools, colleges and universities and scientists in research institutions.  They should teach students as well as teachers and do research along with other scientists.  Then only students and teachers can do quality education and research.  Indirect teaching of all related subjects though libraries is the main task of the libraries and librarians.    To effectively do the academic process of teaching, learning and research, it requires class room teaching also by the librarians.

All agricultural universities in India is handling a course, named: Library and Information Service (0+1 Credit) for their PG and PhD courses from about 40 years back as insisted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR, a regulatory body in agriculture similar to UGC in other subjects).

Central, Navodhaya and CBSE Schools are best example that their librarians are teachers and now they are planning to re-designate the librarians as TGT/PGT.   All Govt. of India and Govt.of Kerala research institutions designated librarians as teachers/scientists.  Unfortunately, many authorities in India also in Kerala are trying to de-link teaching/research from libraries.  This is an anti-social move to be curbed at any cost.  We have the primary responsibility to educate the political and administrative authorities about the important role to be played by libraries and librarians.  Otherwise the national investment on education and research will be in futile.

Does this re-designation means that the school librarians will be treated equal to the TGTs in other subjects and will also be promoted to V.Principal and Principals just like other TGTs.

if not,

then what is the relevance to this re-designation from Lib(non teaching staff) to TGT (Lib)
