Respected Sir

I liked your valuable replay also i understood your replay

I like always learning something others especially form senior professionals like you thats why I am member of LISLINKS

So first I would like to clarify that  I am not doing or posting any discussions or topics or information for credit or publicity

so I request to All my LIS forum friends do not  think like this person  (Mr. Iranna Shettar)

I am member for only sharing information or Update my knowledge

not for publicity or become Hero

sir please clarify my one more doubt

what is difference between Author, Editor, Compiler,  etc.

I searched information on www.wikipedia.org

1. Author - : An author is broadly defined as "the person who originated or gave existence to anything" and whose authorship determines responsibility for what was created.

2. Editor :-

A person

  • A person who does editing
  • Editor at large, a special kind of journalist
  • Editor in chief, having final responsibility for a publication's operations and policies
  • Contributing editor, a magazine or book-publishing title, sometimes honorary, with a variety of meanings
  • Copy editing, making formatting changes and other improvements to text
  • Film editing, connecting shots to form a sequence then an entire movie
  • Literary editor, in a newspaper or similar, deals with reviews or literary criticism
  • Managing editor, senior member of a publication's management team
  • Picture editor, or photo editor, collects and reviews photographs and/or illustrations for publication
  • Script editor, works with the screenwriter and producer of television dramas and comedies
  • Sound editor (filmmaking), prepares the sound mixing a TV program or film
  • Sound editor or audio editor, a role of an audio engineer Etc.

3. Editing :-

Editing is the process of selecting and preparing writtenvisualaudible, andfilm media used to convey information through the processes of correction, condensation, organization, and other modifications performed with an intention of producing a correct, consistent, accurate, and complete work.[1]

The editing process often begins with the author's idea for the work itself, continuing as a collaboration between the author and the editor as the work is created. As such, editing is a practice that includes creative skills, human relations, and a precise set of methods ETC

4. Compiler :-

compiler is a computer program (or set of programs) that transformssource code written in a programming language (the source language) into another computer language (the target language, often having a binary form known as object code). The most common reason for wanting to transform source code is to create an executable program.

The name "compiler" is primarily used for programs that translate source code from a high-level programming language to a lower level language (e.g.,assembly language or machine code). If the compiled program can run on a computer whose CPU or operating system is different from the one on which the compiler runs, the compiler is known as a cross-compiler. A program that translates from a low level language to a higher level one is a decompiler. A program that translates between high-level languages is usually called alanguage translatorsource to source translator, or language converter. Alanguage rewriter is usually a program that translates the form of expressions without a change of language.

A compiler is likely to perform many or all of the following operations: lexical analysispreprocessingparsing, semantic analysis (Syntax-directed translation), code generation, and code optimization.

Sir,

you mentioned in your replay that I am taking authorship of the content. Which is not correct in this case (I never say this or I don't want authorship)

please find out &  tell me what is my role in this information

means as author, as Editor, or as compiler  as your opinion

I waiting for your valuable suggestions

Thanks & Regards

Dear Mr. Digambar,

I think you do not understand my concern here, I just suggested mentioning original author when you are posting some information like this.

In your earlier reply you have already mentioned the original content link (i.e. link to PDF file) uploaded by Compiled by Gurdev Yadav, Assistant Librarian, Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh.

When you know it is originally compiled by someone else & link is available on same platform, you would have just shared that link instead of Copy pasting the content to other word file & uploading the again without original compilers name, which is considered as “Copyright infringement*”, also as Mr. Hiremath rightly said “Its wastage of valuable bandwidth and wastage of time and efforts - both on the part of the person posting it and also of members of this forum reading it”.

In this particular care you are not the Author as "you are not written this piece of information", not the Editor as "Original author shared unpublished data with you to publish", not a Complier "when original piece of information is already Compiled".

I hope you will not take this personally, as being the Informational professionals we need to respect one's Copy Right. I am very much sure you respect Copy Right Law of the Land.

* Copyright infringement is the unauthorized use of works under copyright, infringing the copyright holder's "exclusive rights", such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the copyrighted work, spread the information contained within copyrighted works, or to make derivative works.

Best Wishes

Iranna Shettar

Sir,

I respected to you better than Copy Right Law of the Land.

I think,  if we think about Copyright Law than nobody can right to post anything on this forum beside ourselves  created

I think this,  our LIS Professionals forum to discuss our some professional problem or sharing information and updated knowledge

So if we think to post only ourselves  created information than this forum’s objective will be changed

Sir, You  mentioned in your replay that

"When you know it is originally compiled by someone else & link is available on same platform, you would have just shared that link instead of Copy pasting the content to other word file & uploading the again without original compilers name, which is considered as “Copyright infringement*”,

Sir  for your kind information I collected this information on http://api.ning.com/files/LEuYeTNOhIsQmNjSRt0QDMf5-P1iu8vPb78NiRqlJ...

Thanks Sir

I would like to say sorry to you

if I said wrong in my replay

Thanks & Regards

Digambar

In continuation of Mr. Shettar's point, I have a few observations to make.

Duplication of efforts will lead to sheer wastage of valuable bandwidth and wastage of time and efforts - both on the part of the person posting it and also of members of this forum reading it.  Therefore it has to be avoided in first place.

Secondly we have to verify the correctness of the questions and answers we are posting as the posting reaches thousands of members and therefore has the capacity to mould the opinion of several at any given point of time.  If we are unsure whether the answers are correct or not, then, we should refrain from posting such things on the forum.  This is because, it is then not a service it is disservice - it is not information, it is disinformation.  Such things are not at all helpful but they are unhelpful to the user community.

The two basic philosophies –(a)  right information to the right users in right amount in right way (b)saving the time of the users –should be upheld at all levels.

I think, I don’t have to further comment on the repercussions of disinformation / misinformation courtesy bad / incorrect posting.

Thanks sir

really Its very meaningful information

once again thanks I will keep in mind
