I had been to Novotel Chennai.
As you informed,it was really nice and the staffs were quite friendly. We had a very good experience right from the Airport!!
On our way back we saw the beautiful small buildings & cottages in Trivandram & Kovalam brilliantly decorated & illuminated for Christmas & New Year Eve. I had this trip after quite a long span of 8 years and I was a bit apprehensive but everywhere we went, be it Rameswaram or Madurai or Puducherry or Kovalam or Kovam back water or Thiruvananthapuram, we had great experience and fond memories. It was really a fortnight of everlasting memories!!
