I think yes its should be entered in Accession Register.according R S Rangnathan's 2 &3 law .

Dear Krishna Roshan,

Gift books are  called as a Gratis. If you  will getting the same in coming days you have to Maintain the Accession Register. While giving No. to those books you have to Write 'G'.

JRDTML, IISc fallowing same criteria.

Regards

suresh

Thank you to all.

I think the gifted books should be accession into the same accession registered. The only difference is that in Remarks column you need to mention that donated / gifted.

Thanks,

Regards,

Ayan

I am absolutely agree with Mr Ayan

gg

gift books cane be entered in separate register and the accession number can be G1, 2, etc

Wheather urs is an acedmic Library my advise is to maitain a seperate Register , when ever the inspection committes will inspect,  they will ask U  for  how much amount did U spend  for this acedmic year.In sucha a case we can show only the no of Volumes but we con't show the cost of books  included with purchased books( which we have recived through donations )due to  no cash bills or  No purchase  of billes it will be a problem  for Us.If u have entered in a seperate register it will be advatage for us when ever the stock verification , we have to minimise the loss of books from the main accession Register. We will be protected from recovery of Money for  theses (loss of Gifted /donated) books. If we have entered in a seperatre register with DONATED BOOKS.  we have to pleese them They are donted/gifted Books. Simply I can manage every thing U can entere in the Accession Register

Thank Q

dear krishna ji the gifted books received by library should be accessioned but before you take the permission in written by high authority

you can add gifted books in book bank catagories

you can choose donated books accession register for gifted books.
