The impact factor is one of these; it is a measure of the frequency with which the "average article" in a journal has been cited in a given period of time.

Impact factor reveals the relative importance of a journal. it is the measure reflecting average number of citations to the articles in journals. As comapred to foreign journals, Indian journals has very low impact factor on an average.

Impact Factor is one of the quantitative tools for ranking, evaluating, categorizing, and comparing journals,ย in a given period of time. it isย generally denoting the IFย .

Journal Impact Factor is from Journal Citation Report (JCR), a product of Thomson ISI (Institute for Scientific Information). JCR provides quantitative tools for evaluating journals.ย The impact factor was devised byย Eugene Garfield, the founder of theย Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), now part ofย Thomson Reuters. Impact factors are calculated yearly for those journals that are indexed in Thomson Reuter'sย Journal Citation Reports.
