Fine procedure for library documents whose price is not available from any source
Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like inform you that we met a problem to decide the price of a non commercial library document donated by one of our faculty. One of our student lost the document but we are unable to decide the price and collect penalty from the user.
We are in process to define a policy for that. Kindly share any policy followed at your library.

Jena ji. there is no such rule for lost of un priced books. but library may collect three times photocopying charges of the un priced books excluding 35% penalty of lost of books.

is there any price noted any where?
What type of material was this?
You may check the price from other sources..
If it is an rare book, then library committee can decide

We have accessioned them as gifted items. The price recorded for most of the items from genuine sources. But, problem arises in case of documents published by govt. agencies and not for sell collected personally.
I do not have exact inf. but assume DL recruitment postponed indefinitely.

Ji you want clear information you have to follow IIT madras library website they indicate lose of books you may collect latest edition with fine otherwize you may collect three times of nature of cost publication
CIPET central institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology they collect ten times of cost natural price
so you may decide where ever you go there is no define rules

Dear sir
I want to suggest one thing is that kindly enter any document in separate register of donated book which is received free of cost in your library and also mention price of that document in register.this procedure may help you to decide the cost of the document and as per your institution rules that document price or copy can be received from the user.

in my library, gift/donated books are accessioned separate.
