Big data is a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications. .

‘Big Data’ Bigger Share of Librarians in terms of assignment, opportunities, and role to be played in handling the data, as an evaluator, curator, and much more.

It is really an interesting discussion found in this forum. While the level of our LIS research is low, this kind of discussion really induces high level quality research. Big data offers much promise in the recent data mining research. Large datasets get mined using powerful algorithms and statistical techniques. If LIS people take initiatives in mining large scale datasets using conceptual understanding and preferential mining, it is useful.

Thank you very much Madam...for your initiation toward this post.... In changing dimension of research activities which is galloping with the technology....is bringing so many opportunities for the LIS professionals...But have to cultivate and generate some skills which is required for pacing up with these changes.

Dear Professoinal

Please find out the top open source big data tools

Dear professional

There are many tools are available freely for this activities...Hadoop is very much new and taking place rapidly among the research communities...and also ElcoMaster™ 2.0 is popular one.

Top Open Source BIG Data Tools

1.Apache Hadoop 2.Apache Kafka 3.Talend 4.MongoDB 5.Hypertable Tool 6. Apache HBase 7. Big Data Tool 8. Pentaho

Thank you Sir,

for giving the list of top Big Data Tools

Ma'am

just I raised this matter here, among us.

In order to explanation...

"The Information industry is now being experienced with the new concept called Big Data, which is nothing but the huge data set, growing faster with the time. This concept belongs to research, academics, business, manufacturing and processing industries primarily. On the behalf of the data set, the world will become more accurate in answering a query regarding business query and prediction can be make easily. In this scenario the Library Science professionals will get benefit because of having a firm relationship with academics and research activities and being familiar, knowledeous and experts of Library Sciences oriented skills; knowledge organization, knowledge of metric(s) and etc., will give the good reward in this regard. Although librarians are not data originator here but are contributors of signs, meaning to a particular data set, and analyzer of trends. By this way, hope is there with challenging assignments; but has to pace with the technological development and advanced knowledge(s) of organizing the resources in e-environment. Librarians are major role player in academic hence in big data also."

...great pleasure ma'am

Good job Menesh...I am very happy to see your new post...

Bigdata processing is possible only with newer mining techniques. Equally important is the conceptual clarification and understanding of the themes. Also we need deploy algorithms to process such bigdata. Deploying of the tools with some data alone is inadequate. This happens in Scientometrics Research in India. People just use different types of datasets with known techniques and with same kind of inferences. Deploying of new mining techniques and with sound inferencing will really promote. I am really happy that this kind of discussion is being initiated in this forum.
