STOCK VERIFICATION may done by the LIbrarian but, "STOCK is VERIFIED AND FOUND CORRECT CERTIFICATE" must be by a Committee appointed by the OFFICER of the ORGANISATION and by the OFFICER also.

I'm also agreed with Mr. Srinivas's opinion. The same was followed in most of our libraries in Kerala

Stock verification is regular exercise of library as per General Financial Rules, 2005 (Ministry of Finance, govt. of India)  Rules No. 194 

Rule 194. Physical verification of Library books :
(i) Complete physical verification of books should be done every year
in case of libraries having not more than twenty thousand volumes.
For libraries having more than twenty thousand volumes and upto
fifty thousand volumes, such verification should be done at least
once in three years. Sample physical verification at intervals of not

more than three years should be done in case of libraries having
more than fifty thousand volumes. In case such a verification
reveals unusual or unreasonable shortages, complete verification
shall be done.

as per my opinion Stock verification should be done  under the guidance of Librarian with library support staff or outsider support staff. 

committee has no right to take stock verification committee only verify stock verification report if report found wrong that time authority to give order to committee but stock verification is routine work of library should done under the librarians  guidance

The stack verification of the library only down by the librarian or in supervision of the Librarian/Head of the library, and report of the stack verification, send to the head of the institution with signature of stack verification committee/library committee members for seen or further action.

committed should be involved .....and its is not personal librarian problem same problem i face in dav engg. college

sir which one problem, please explain in details I think committee should be involved for stock verification report verified process not actual taking stock verification 

Library stock verification objectives  are

1. to check books physical condition

2. to check any mistake means double acc. no etc.

3. to check weather book card changed or not

4. to check books weather out of syllabus 

5. to check misplace or lost books etc........

these work only done Librarian  & Library staff done properly 

so stock verification work should be done by Librarian & library Staff
