Do Most of the institutes prefer men at work as librarian rather than women?

Organizations look for male candidates for the librarian post. What are the reasons behind considering mostly men as best to handle the administrative works than a woman?

I am agree with you jyoti night duties are difficult for women.

I know a school where the Head Master prefer male Librarian than Female candidate. Coz," He will be more efficient than She. And the controlling power of a male candidate is quite better than She."

Let me say my personal experience, when I was working for a college in Singapore, during the early days of my appointment one day a Malay student who crossed my desk asked me like this “are you the librarian?” I replied her “yes”.  She came twice after that and asked the same question. Third time I asked her “what do you want to know” for that she replied me, I thought librarian means “female” because wherever I see only female librarians  so I was surprised to see a male librarian for the first time!!

What she said was right! number of female librarians are more in USA, UAE and in Singapore this doesn’t mean that librarian jobs are only for female there.  According to our country we are balanced, recruiting male or female is based upon the nature of the position.  Of course, extended library hours, jobs required some sort of physical works like carrying books may not be given for female.

Like Mr. Badan said many libraries not having sufficient staff so these libraries prefer male for doing multitasking from administration to arranging books.
HHHmmm I think u r asking the total opposite question... as fa as the modern demand of recruitment is concerned, women r preferred most of the in-hose jobs.. donno the reason

its depend on the candidate that whi is better many place the women are better working. so dont take it otherwise both are prefer its depend on u that how u take it.

Dear Professionals

I had some other views to share. When I started looking for my carrier in this profession. The girls gave a tuff competition as candidates. I found in most of the cases they were preferred too. But it might be a chance only.

Dear Madam,

Your observation is right up to some extant, I have also pain towards the same, but it is fact. Only females can change this scenario by proving their abilities and attitude as well. They should understand that, if they want equality to men then they should to avoid getting extra advantages because of being female, they should also avoid giving excuses that they can't do something because they are females. You will observe that the women those have shown their professional abilities regardless being female have achieved their positions, where even males could not achieve the same. I am forgetting the name of that lady who is the Executive head of PEPSICO, but she has proved herself and sustaining her position for a long time. So many examples are their, In our field also women are proving their selves and holding the better positions in our profession. I hereby wish all females best luck and successful career in our profession. If you want to know the reasons behind disliking the female professionals as compare to men, following reasons might be their possibly if you don’t take otherwise (It’s not applies on each and every woman but these reasons could be considered if, we go to search the reasons behind the scenario):

1. Female professionals do not get agreed, if ask to stay after their timings.

2. Female professionals are not fit for laborious jobs (If shifting of library takes place or at any other situations).

3. Demands for more leaves in compare to men (Including Maternity Leaves).

4. Lack of dedication towards their job and more attention to their family.

5. Lack of Practical approach as well as common sense.

6. More participation in internal politics in compare to males.

7. Do not accept strict treatment (Many times HOD has to treat in this way, if the situation demands)

8. Other employees also shay at many situations because of presence of female employee(s).

9. Easy handling with male employees in compare to females.

10. Many times females try to get additional advantages of being a female from Management or Director crossing their heads.

Totally agree to your strong points...
