Re-Designating UGC Librarians as Asst. Professor/Associate Professors

Library Associations-Your Attention Please

Dear Academic Librarians,
Central Pay Commission already submitted its report. Now UGC shall constitute the Pay Revision Committee at any time.Now intensive lobbying by Library associations is needed in UGC and MHRD for 
Re-Designation of Librarians to Asst. Professor(LIS)/Associate professor(LIS)/Professor(LIS) OR as
Asst. Director/Deputy Director/Director(Library)
UGC/MHRD may be convinced the need for class room lecturing /training by Librarians to First Year Degree and PG students without which the knowledge resources will be under-utilised.  Initially two or three hours may be proposed with requisition for inclusion in the college time table.

Feedback and Suggestions on the UGC Regulations Draft Rules - 2025: Where is justice? Why this injustice? regarding.

With reference to above cited subject, How much do you know about the designation of ACADEMIC STAFF?  Earlier, the higher education regulatory body of India, University Grants Commission, defines academic staff as teachers, librarians, and physical education personnel etc.  

The UGC has equal qualifications, such as the Teacher and Other Academic Staff, which is the same as the effect of teachers or the teachers. Systems guided by Bibliography to many teachers are still rooted in many faculty. Librarians are aware of the CAS-AGP Level 14 to be promoted. But it is not possible to become college PRINCIPAL and act as Vice – Chancellor of University. Didn't we research? Not guided? Is it wrong to do research in the library and information science? Does the Library and Information Science Teaching Faculty Research Only without Practical Knowledge Keep in mind that there is no difference between Librarians and teaching faculty of Library and Information Science who teach the library and information science. What do we have when the UGC is rooted in great education experts that the Librarian and the Director of Physical Education cannot be promoted to become the Principal/ Chancellor? As long as we are in the UGC in our country, the opportunity is deprived and undergoing mental stress. Therefore, I pray to God that you are happy with all the posts and interests, and enough to be a librarian.

We sincerely hope that these suggestions will be considered favourably. I am willing to provide further clarifications or participate in discussions to elaborate on these points if required.

major universities in west bengal have introduced multi displinary courses (MDC) to be taught in colleges such as MDC: Management of Libraries and Information Centres being taught by librarians. hence librarians can be re designated if they take minimum hours of teaching.
