UGC Eligibility Criteria for University Assistant Librarian
The University Grants commission has made it mandatory to have NET/SLET or PHD. as minimum eligibility for appointment to the Post of Assistant Librarian in Universities. However, it is violated in many ย Universities of India citing local and artificially createdย deficienciesย of candidates with these qualifications. It is also observed that at many university libraries, even simple Professional Assistants are promoted as Assistant Librarians by giving them undue and unjustified promotions thereby violating grossly the UGC guidelines. These malpractices have their ownย repercussionsย on the efficiency of these libraries as the selection and availability of ย qualified and experienced human resource makes or mars the future of these institutions.

I agree with your view. I know one person i.e. Mr. Bhupedra Singh Ratha who has taught me in M.Phil. I have found him a best teacher, I have been taught from, but he has yet not gotten a good job in spite of belonging to S.C.
The procedure and execution is really doubtful. Thanks for starting a good debate.ย
