INFLIBNET is organizing a three days training programme on Open Data-Driven Research Evaluation Exploring Tools, APIs, and Research Metrics during  July 22 – 24, 2026. The training programme is designed to provide a sound overview of open data sources and their application in the context of research evaluation and policy. It will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of research metrics, open data sources, research integrity, and the use of APIs for research and data analysis. It will create awareness about accessing and utilizing open data sources and integrating APIs with R and Python for data retrieval and analysis. Special emphasis will be given to analyzing the data using open API in R, Python and VOSviewer. Theoretically imparted knowledge will be enhanced through demonstrations, hands-on sessions, and practical exercises, enabling participants to gain proficiency in modern tools and techniques for data-driven research and analysis.

Major Topics

Following topics will be covered in the training:

•   Research Metrics: Concepts, Calculation and Context.
•   Open Data Sources
•   Deep Dive – Crossref, OpenAlex APIs etc.
•   Accessing Open Data through APIs (Hands-on)
•   Exploring Open Citations
•   Open Data and Research Integrity.
•   VOSviewer and Open APIs for Network Analysis.
•   Open Data Analytics using R / Python.

Resource Persons

The lecturers are prominent researchers, scientists/professors in the field of bibliometrics and data analytics. They have extensive experience with the application of bibliometric and research evaluation.

The Training programme will be conducted at Information and Library Network Centre, An IUC of University Grants Commission, Infocity, Gandhinagar-382007, Gujarat, India..

Fee

The registration fee is Rs. 3,540.00 (Rupees Three Thousand Five Hundred Forty only) per person without accommodation and Rs 5,900.00 (Rupees Five thousand Nine hundred only) with accommodation, which is inclusive of GST rates. It covers the cost of a training programme kit containing training materials and lunch during the training period. The payment should be made through a Demand Draft in favour of INFLIBNET Centre payable at Gandhinagar, along with a filled-in registration form. Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable. The Centre also accepts payment by NEFT /RTGS for the workshop. The bank account details will be shared on request..

The application for registration to the workshop programme should be submitted online to the INFLIBNET Centre on or before 6th July 2026.
