No, Mphil degree holders should qualify the net.

Thanks a lot Sir.

no

thanx mam

NET and M.Phil are not equivalent. In sometime ago, UGC have  given exemption of M.Phil holder shall be appointed as Assistant librarian or College level librarian. But in this time PhD holder exempted from NET accordance with UGC terms and conditions.

Thanks a lot Sir.

Dear Shariyan Ahmed;

Happy Eid!

Coming to your query. I believe you have already gone through the other three comments which adequately explained the matter. I would like to add a few lines explaining the differences between the two in very broad sense..

M.Phil is an (a) academic course

(b) under a specific university/Institution (

c) which confers the specific degree (M.Phil) to the successful students.

They are mostly

(d) semester bound and

(e) requires completion of a dissertation work as a part of the course curriculum..

NET is basically a competitive examination.

conducted by

(a) Specific University/Institute or

(b) UGC Or Conglomerate bodies like CSIR/ICMR etc.

After passing out NET you do not get any Degree but become eligible to

(C) pursue further Research  as JRF or SRF ( for which you are entitled to get a fellowship) or

(d) get a job (as Lecturer or an Assist University Librarian or a College Librarian)

NET is  rather irrespective of post-Masters qualifications.

You can appear at NET after doing M.Lib.Sc or M.Phil or even a Ph.D.

The underlying reason is uneven standards of Degrees from different academic institutions.

UGC-NET or CSIR-NET or ICMR-NET each compose their own question papers which are common for all candidates from various corners of the Country appearing  for that particular competitive examination .

Incidentally,  several thousand students appear for UGC-NET or CSIR-NET, but only a few hundreds qualify.

I hope I could explain your query in a broad way.

Sincerely,

Siddhartha S. Ray, Calcutta

Thanks a lot Sir .

no

Thanks a lot Sir.

Both, Net and M Phil are not equivalent, As per UGC's norms for educational qualifications of 2009 and 2010 only NET/Slet is must....

M Phil not equalant NET but P hd is equalant
