Ancient Library management

Kindly share information on - how the books and manuscript were managed in ancient library. Is there any classification system?  How can we restore/preserve/ conservation rare books and manuscript?

For the last question on 'How can we restore/preserve/ conservation rare books and manuscript?',

Convert them into Digital formats and preserve them with DSpace opensource software.

In ancient days books were stored according to size, type and colour.
