Do you suggest B.Lib. for an M.Com. degree holder.

Hello,

I have done M.Com. I am female age 27 working as forest guard in MP forest department. But I am not happy with my current job & want to leave it and wanted to do B.Lib. I really like reading books and like  to know more and more about different things culture, languages, etc. and besides it, I would love to do a job in a room full of books and so after some research I came to know about this course and would like to pursue it but I want to know that at my age should I switch to this course and can I go for it or is it too late. I am little confuse regarding it. I would also like to know more about it in detail. What are the scope of this course. Is there any age bar? I would really appreciate it if I could get some help and wise advise regarding it.

If you can afford to leave job, I would like to suggest you to do M.Lib.I.Sc. from any regular university, DRTC or ISI, otherwise, I would like to suggest you to do B.Lib. and then M.Lib. from IGNOU in distance mode.

Can i  do M.lib without B.lib. As i have done M.com already. If so is there any way.

Dear Urvashi mam,

i am very happy to see you in lislink even you have not done BLIS or MLIS. Mam along with your job you can study in distance mode there are many universities who offered distance mode education.i have completed my BLIS and MLIS from annamalai university in distance mode and i got govt job so you can complete BLIS in one year and MLIS in one year and your age is less and you have lot of time to get the librarian job.

Thank you Farzana , but i work in a very rural area i.e ( jungle) as i am an employee of forest department. So even then can i do distance mode as its study center wont be availble at such rural place. And besides this, I would like to know more about this librarian profession and its scope and salary and age bar for it. Acan we didcuss it in detail about it . Dont mind but actually i have so many questions in  my mind which i want to clarify.

In some universities you can do Two Years Integrated Master in Library and Information Science, whereas in others you have to do one year Bachelor degree in Library and Information Science and one year Master in Library and Information Science. Though you have M.Com. when you will join the Library and Information Science programme, you will be treated as B.Com only. Its just like you are joining the MBBS programme after having BSc, but you will be treated as having the Class 10+2 only.

Dear mam,

It's been nice to hear that, people are still interested in staying between the books. Regarding this issue, I will go with Farzana mam and suggest you not to leave your job. If you are interested in becoming a LIS professional you can prepare through distance mode. A well prepared open schooling student can compete a regular student. A slight difference is there but I think you can overcome it. You are already 27, and it would take minimum 1 year to complete blisc that means you will then 28. Slowly you are crossing the age limit of minimum/ entry level govt job requirement. Though you have many other job options like semi-govt/ private. As you are already a member of this group, you can have huge job advertisement/ seminar/ workshop/ events and much more. You can also discuss you any situation/ problem here as an LIS student/ professional. Attain workshop/ seminar etc. Follow up various groups for various information. After completing your course, secure a job first then leave your job. You are a govt employee, why leave a job for a small reason. Getting a job is not that though but, it's not that easy either.

I will also suggest you complete your course from IGNOU if you wish to do from open school. Here you can find the IGNOU BLISc course details and study centers in MP.

You can't do direct MLISc without completing BLISc even you have completed the Masters. You can find your other queries here. If you have any further query, always welcome. All the best.

Please don't mind if I have suggested anything unnecessarily. :-)

Dear Madam,

We are very pleased! that without any LIS degree  you have linked with us through such platform only for your eagerness for such profession. I will suggest you one things that without quit your job you may pursue such course from IGNOU in distance mode to go through  good study materials and you may do good result also. I have done my LIS degree from the same central university and got the job.And my personal opinion  that only studied from this university, I got a job in this profession in ISO certified corporate institution. So one thing  that is if you have a good knowledge regarding the subject, you will get job, but unfortunately some indiscrimination also happens still now regarding your university or Instituion from where you pursue the courses. But quality people always find quality one and it will definitely come out from you in proper place if you have, there is no doubt about it. So I again suggest you that don't left your job do pursue your desire course within your job. And try to connect with Wasim's link you will get more information and never worried about your age better opportunities still now  waiting for you from this profession.

Thanking You.

Very truly yours,

Madam,
I will never suggest you to join LIS profession. Every Government Service is created after well planned thoughts and requirement of the service / position. The talent attracted to any position / service is due to – Position Responsibilities, Promotional avenues, Pay Packages and Service Conditions. But this is a thankless job. You will never get promotion in the Librarian's world. In the Forest department you may be get higher post and promotion and your designation will also be change like Ranger, Forest Officer etc.

Librarian is categorized as a Non Teaching category of staff. Music Teacher, Games Teacher are may get promotion except librarian all the other teachers have the promotion avenues as Vice Principal and Principal But Librarians were denied the equal justice of getting the deserved promotion.

A person can better imagine who serves 30 years in the library on the same post and get retires as a librarian. The other teachers joined after him get promotion as Principal, Dean, HOD, Vice Chancellor etc. We can judge the status and cadre in daily life, all the staff members do not pay due regards to library staff and they have thinking about us as a "Baboo" of the office.

The social status of librarians in the undermined and every person act with us like Untouchable.

The opportunities of Job are also very lees in this field , you should have a God Father or God Mother to get job in the Higher Education.

with regards

SSSSSSSSS DR

In today's time ,get a government job is very tuff now.so I don't suggest to you for leaving your current job. But at last ,it depends on you what you think. You love reading books ,so for that make personal library and contain your interest books in it and study them when you like.
Reading book is your passion but for that, leave job ,is not a good idea.

I have m.lib degree but according to govt adtv. as a librarian qualification D.Lib and graduate degree can you help me here it is possible I eligible for this post if you say yes so Please provide me legel proof provide requirt me in the court
