How many times a book can be renewed in one go?  Is there any specific rules or Government orders with this respect?  If yes, please share the same.

Respected Mam,

See the Hand book of Dept. of Coll. Edn. (DCE), Trivandrum, that is available in their website. There has the appropriate information about your query.

Sir,

That I have downloaded and took print out on last day.  I was inquiring for the authenticity of the provision for renewal of maximum of eight times.

Respected Mam,

An issued book can be renewed  for a period of 15 days, subject to a maximum of 8 times. If online renewal limit is reached, then the book has to be physically brought to the library for renewal. If the book has been reserved by any other person, then the book cannot be renewed

What is the authenticity that we can renew the book for maximum of eight times mam?  I am really in search of such sources

Sr.Joel

Thank you mam.  I think it is the case with icwa library.  It can not be applied to all the libraries especially the academic libraries aided by UGC and other funds which is accountable to the Govt. authorities.

Renewals of Books is a Controlling Processes and Renewals represent an extension of the loan period by recharging the same item to the same borrower. Some books are required by readers for a longer period for various reasons. Books may be renewed if there is no demand for the same book, as indicated by the reserves record. Books may be renewed by presenting the book in person or by telephone depending on the library policy. However renewal is allowed on condition that the book will be returned immediately if recalled.
