Ghost Writing in LIS... Where are we leading to...???

Dear Ma'am,

I think it's a phrase, could you please explain it.

Thank You.

Dear Sir,

Pls read : "Creating a research paper that gets published in international journals requires a whole lot of hard work and knowledge on the subject. Do you think any Researcher, who is involved in research without any hard work or subject knowledge do the research. Yes I agree Research Paper writing needs some skills, for that researcher needs to improve his/her skills, but should not take professional help for paper writing, in that case any Tom, Dick and Harry will publish so many papers in to their credit. If it would be a Work shop on Paper Writing would have appreciated, but this kind of service is only a GHOSTWRITER can offer.

Pls Note, Meaning of Ghostwriter

ghostwriter
ˈɡəʊstrʌɪtə(r)/
noun
noun: ghost-writer
  1. a person whose job it is to write material for someone else who is the named author.

I think Mr. Senthil might not be aware about the phrasal work "Ghost writer" same like me.

So Senthil Sir, please do not take this phrase in a negative sense take it in within a positive periphery. We can assume which kind of assistant your team provides. It is really a good work and noble role in development of society. We have seen near to universities there are many publication houses exist to serve the students in getting their research work ready. Hence, the same work your team is also doing/performing. I am correct? Kindly respond...

Thank you.

if u are ghost...  we will do surely...

Dear Sir,

Please mind your language, you have been watched / read on social network & your online persona built on comments you make here.

Pls Note, Meaning of Ghostwriter

Dear Senthil Sir

Kindly use controlled vocabulary for fair and transparent relationship among us on LISLINKS. If the replies of Ms. Shetha is not exactly to your work then, I/we must say sorry for this.

Kindly take your words back...

Thanking you.

Dear Sri Senthil,

Thanks for your post. It is a fine endeavour.I really appreciate this gesture from our able co-professionals!!

However, it would have been more transparent had you mentioned the names & attachments of the other individuals of the team.

As you know, it is quite natural for any individual to be apprehensive to submit/communicate his/her proposed paper/write-up to unknown individuals or a group.

It will indeed be a good gesture if you can provide the details of the other members of your group

Sincerely,

Siddhartha S. Ray

Dear Mr. Senthil, Ms. Shweta Patil and Sri Munesh Kumar.

I have followed the discussions in this forum.

I have no idea whether it is a voluntary & noble endeavour from the professionals to help other Co-Professionals or it is anything what Ms. Patil has indicated.

But as I personally feel, helping others is a good gesture from the professional standpoint.I have at times, approached the forum members for help in certain professional issues and I always received more than what I have expected. My first reaction as depicted in my previous post certainly reflects this issue.

Ms. Patil's post however, led me to think otherwise. I am not intending to defend anybody but request both Mr. Senthil & Ms. Patil to be fair and Mr. Senthil should better clarify the issue so that Ms. Patil's apprehension can be eliminated. It is a fact that many of us have ability to analyse issues and explain an issue from various points of views which are prerequisites to write good articles but have sort of limited stock of words. In that case, if anybody or a group come forward to provide support should not be called Ghost Writers.

At the same time I also support Ms. Patil's views and statements of a specific section of people she has indicated. Certainly they spoils the profession and as I know, there are some people in subject fields outside LIS as well and such Ghost Writing is a well paying job. As I can remember I have read an article in a leading international Scientific journal where such allegations were made against Scientists of a particular Country!!

I have also written about such issue a couple of years back in this forum. However, I am confident that if people who have taken advantage of such illegal ways can never compete in the interview sessions for job. As an interviewer, I have seen several "Fancy Coauthors" of certain articles to fumble in the interview board. So ultimately such acts usually do not bear fruits.

So Ms. Patil, you can be assured that such people can not travel beyond a few limited steps. But it may also happen that Mr. Senthil's group have genuinely offered help for people. This is not just writing on behalf of others but to suggest to modify the language, arrange the issues sequentially and stuffs like this. Such subtle acts often changes the entire attire of a paper. I have several times got my manuscripts reviewed and corrected by some of my scientist colleagues. They have 150+ articles in their credit and I was always impressed how such small things overwhelmingly changed the entire structure of my paper!

Lastly, I must convey Sri Munesh Kumar for advising to use "Controlled Vocabulary" I must confess that I have never witnessed such beautiful application of this phrase!!

With all good wishes for Bengali Bijoya or Navratri.

Siddhartha S. Ray
