Recently I got news that West Bengal Government Officials will visit the Engineering Colleges to enquire their infrastructure. Will it be beneficial for the library and the library staffs. Comment please

definitely

In case of no professional librarian, they may withdraw affiliation.

they will provide fund for library development, automation, e-journal etc

they may also look after the pay scale of library staff

I accept your words.

Thank you.

Sir, you are right.

they are recruiting qualified library professionals. But there is no question of pay scale.

My answer will be in both way....

First of all, if they seen any lack..they recommend for few suggestions....

Later they can re visit to see the recommended  facilities and if they able to give positive best then may give time or some time money may stop all words we can seen it in different cases....

After the visit management may give good words which may be forgot after their return....

actually this type of visit are regular practice for engineering colleges and they knew it how to handle to continue their business of education....

yes sir, you are right! I want to pass this issues to all and make a voice against it, to save our noble profession.

right if the govt take that dission it will be very helpful for library professional as well as library

I wonder whether such teams include a library professional who has adequate knowledge and experience about working of an engineering Library. Otherwise, the venture may not be fruitful as far as the potentiality of service is concerned. For instance, many libraries (only because of bindings of norms/regulations mainly) have to subscribe clustered e-journals. However, since there is no bindings for specifications of requisite infrastructure, it is observed that the old computers are allocated to the libraries and by this way, the entire purpose of e-journal subscription gets jeopardized!! If the team includes a knowledgeable Library professional, such activities can be checked. Similarly, many such institutes buy e-books to minimize expenditure on Library. However the factors underlying actual/optimum utilization of such materials remains unattended. These are certain issues which I believe needs serious attention. I agree with Sri Apurba Jyoti Mazumder's perception about salary and associated issues however, the perception of Sri Subir Das is also a matter of serious concern. As we believe that the pass outs of such institutions are virtually future builders of the nation, and in case they are not adequately supported with requisite teaching aids their expertise may fall short of expectation which can become devastating for all of us.

Sincerely,

Siddhartha S. Ray, Calcutta

Siddhartha Sir,

thanks for your valuable comments.I think your comments is highly justifies the issue. But how can we pass this suggestion to the govt.Officials. We the only professionals who are suffering a lot. Always we are to work in adverse situations in private engineering colleges. As our earlier experience Mr.Subir Das stated that after having inspections all the situation remains same.
