Central Government order F.No. 5-4/2005 U.I (A) dated 12th November 2008 issued by Minstry of HRD Deptt of Higher Education
And whereas the Retport of the Mungekar Committee was considered by the UGC in its meeting held on 21th May 2008 wherein the commission resolved as under-
(i) NET/SLET or Ph.D. Shall remain the minimum elibigibility condition for the recruitments of lecturers in universities/Colleges/institutions
(ii)The candidates, who are already registered for M.Phil and completed the same upto 30th June 2009 be exempted from NET for UG teaching. However, NET/SLET shall be compulsory for the candidates completing their M.Phil con or after 1st July 2009.
(iii) All the Universities shallbe required to follow new procedure of standardisation of Ph.D. By 30th June 2009 for when UGC shall issue regulation within three months.

UGC (Minimum Standards and procedure for awards of M.PHil/Ph.D degree) regulation 2009 published in The Gazette of Inida, July 11, 2009 are released.
