librarian is required always wither technology serve or not?
there is librarian in usa & other country far advanced then us country.

don't shocked sir, some people always arise such question. and we have to give the answer in very specific way. suppose u worked in a college where some it expert teacher asked you than what should you reply. is your above given answer satisfy the people?

is google is the solution of the problem when we know that it is not related to the emotional and mental satisfaction......librarian a working brain have emotions and can connect the user directly and better understand the problem......... i think short is enough to tell the answer

I respect your thought on this but as a user I am more interested in finding information and I would say a lot of information instantly rather than the way it will be delivered to me. And of course the satisfaction lies in getting the desired information.

Dear Mr. Rajprohit, "there is librarian in usa & other country far advanced then us country" this is not the ans of question had been risen by Mr. Trique. You should be give the ans of same. so that the purpose of posting of question can be solve. ANSWER can be as:
First of all we have to understand here google means, it is used as the searching engine. google is most renowned searching in comparison to yahoo, altavista etc. the search engine indexing the information, which is available for public use. now we can classified what can search engine; do or what can librarian do.

Search Engine: 24x7 access, it can give you hourly search activity, daily search activity results as you want.
it is geographically independent.
it can be used from anywhere, any time, on PC, laptop, mobiles, etc.
you can use the search engine for giving the word ranking...instance webometrics.
it gives you more accuracy, RSS feeds and alerts,
many things google can do.... gives you images, songs,news, blogs, its long list.


But Librarians can do following things, which google or internet can't do:
Can add a depth of understanding,
Ability of manipulate data across the range of resources, there are more some reasons, for librarians
There is not not everything is on the Internet, not everything on the Internet is reliable, nor free-of-charge,
Everyone can't afford a home computer for personal use,
Libraries help foster community; the Internet sometimes does, but it can also increase alienation; it's a double edged sword compared to libraries,
The librarians seek to provide a wide, representative sample of multiple perspectives on controversial issues and to support personal interests of the community,
Librarians will try to warn you about innacurate or misleading information if possible; with the Internet, you're on your own,
and one most important thing is, librarian can better understand the need of users,
so with the proliferation of information available both electronically and in print (as more books are being printed today than ever before), librarians and libraries are even more necessary to help users search, find, and verify the validity of information in all its various forms.
it is true the internet/ict helps for disseminating the information to end user very much, but it does not mean we didn't require for librarian.
for in this regard, I will say one sentence for librarian, such as teacher is always need of students so librarian is always need of users. moreover I can say "LIBRARIAN IS PROFESSOR OF PROFESSORS".

No one should be shocked to hear such reactions. These are facts which every library professional is facing and knowing the reality as well but not ready to accept it. One should always be ready to accept positive criticism in any profession. This enables us to retrospect within ourselves and within our system.

My dear friends as you all know, change is inevitable in all aspects of human activities and its related organisations. In the present age of ICT, the changes are taking place with a tremendous speed. One has to change accordingly, if one wants to survive within the system. We have to change ourselves according to the demanding situation for better service to information users.

We have to redefine our role and then only user can find the relevancy of a librarian in any organisation.We should stop boasting ourself that we are the professor of professors and things like that and start seriously towards better information service of our users in present scenario These comments should come from our users not from ourself.

Dear friend,
Google is only a gadget where we find specific information and papers,journals,books etc and to some extent it may also educate people.But there is no way that it can replace the librarian.Librarian is one of the important components working to make the organisation/institution's goal successful,can google take the seat of the librarian and buy books?manage the library by itself?help the users in getting specific information at a sigle point of time?not possible,if google would replace the librarian,then no institution or college would find it necessary to appoint librarians/maintatin a e-resource centre or library,simply keeping a large number of computers would do?inst it?please think deeply and you will find the answer.
