Should Library Science be introduced as a teaching subject to Re-Designate College/University Librarians as Asstt. Profs./ Assct.Profs./ and Profs.of Library Science

Dear Librarians,

Yes, the authorities say Classroom Teaching is must for re-designating the librarians as teachers but our job does not involve classroom instructions. Earlier The DPEs also faced the same situation but of late they are now having full fledged courses in colleges.ย 

The point of discussion is whether Lib.Sc. be introduced as a subject or a library period be introduced at least for entry level classes!!!

Mainly in school libraries it is facing a problem of non awareness of library system which results mess up of the system especially by the primary students. All the students are somehow forced to use the library in schools but totally ignorant of the system. That might be the reason ย that most of the school libraries areย non-functional. ย 

So it is very important to introduce library sc, as period and design course curriculum. And of course be trained the librarians.ย

Library and Information Sc.should be introduced as subject and library professionals should be treated in main cadre so ย they ย they can get promotions as like other teachers for higher posts ย  ย
