Sir,
if you get the same missing issues in some other college/university library you can photocopy and add it.

Thank you mam for being a part of this discussion.

can library give a permission to photocopy whole issue instead of some pages. ?

Yes,most probably, you meet the Librarian and explain your reason and definitely it will be agreed since it is for academic & non-profit purpose..

Dear friend

if you are not getting missing issues till the end of year, you can not use photo copy of the same from other library because it will create problem at the time of AICTE team visit.

Dear Shameem,

You are most welcome. But in that case what should we do. How can we bound the volume ? OR Bound with missing volume ?

What is AICTE rules for this matter. Plz guide me.

Dear Maulik,

The problem you are facing is a very common one in most of the libraries. There are two aspects to it. One is financial and the other is collection.

It seems to me that your problem is regarding collection.

If you don't recieve the complete issues of a volume, (I assume you have sent reminders at appropriate times to your agent or publisher and they are not in a position to supply the missing issues) after settling the financial aspect, you can bind the incomplete volume and put an note in the note area that such and such issues are missing in the library collection.

Thank you sir for being a part of this discussion.

I agree with you and I've done the reminder mail and also talked to the concern person. they are replying in positive way but they are not taking any action behind that.  I feel like harassment. I don't understand that how people do like that why don't they give proper and right answer ? Why they speak lie?

sir may I know about note area in which part of the volume or register ???

Maulik,

It is not a problem in your library only, its everywhere so take it as it comes. I think you should wait for sometime before getting the journals bound. As a practice in our library, we get them bound at least after a gap of 2 to 3 years (e.g. now-w-days we age sending journals of 2006-07 for binding).

During AICTE inspecton you can show them that corrospondence with the suppliers is going on and you are trying your level best to procure the missing issues.

Well in the accession register you can add these notes on the remarks column and make  entries in the catalogue or your LMS database what evever you are maintaining.

You are right sir, it is the good idea. it is feasible.

Thank you

Really its a regular problem most of us faced in the library.....They are very less responsive towards this problem....Main thing is tht we should always fix a dead line for receiving the journals/ periodicals with the vendor...when we dont receive the periodicals by the dead line then we should always play the proactive role & immediately send reminder by every means of communication e.g. e-mail, phone call, sms, Fax, etc.. If they still failed to supply the journals on time then they should provide extra copy of any demanded journals to the library after due negotiation with them...

I hope we can do these things to manage this problem....
