No... This should be "Dadasaheb Phalke", the Father of Indian cinema as "The first Indian movie released in India was Shree pundalik a silent film in Marathi by Dadasaheb Torne on 18 May 1912 at 'Coronation Cinematograph', Mumbai" & Ardeshir Irani released Alam Ara which was the first Indian talking film, on 14 March 1931.

Where as Satyajit Ray born on 2 May 1921 & his first film "Pather Panchali" released in 1955...
