Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a Doctoral student in SHPT School of Library Science, SNDT University, Mumbai. My Faculty Guide is Dr.Sushama Powdwal, Former University Librarian and Head of SHPT School of Library Science, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai.

My topic for research is ‘A Survey of Green Libraries in India.’

This study is being conducted to understand the concept of green library and to find out the green quotient of Indian libraries.

This questionnaire contains 2 sections and will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Please be assured that the information provided by you would be used for Academic Purpose only.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the questionnaire or the study, please feel free to contact me on my mobile (09699505924) or e-mail(neeta.gundawar@gmail.com.) All inquiries will be kept in strictest confidence.

For the purpose of this study, the following operational definition of green library is used:

“A library which follows the eco-friendly practices in all its activities is calleda green library.

Eco friendly practices include-

  1. Implementation of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle policy.
  2. Creation of zero garbage system.
  3. Creation of paperless work environment.
  4. Planning for sustainable development.
  5. Propaganda of saving nature through library activities.
  6. A library built and run with environmental concern in mind; they are part of the larger green building movement. Sustainable development, as defined by the Brudent Land Commission {1987} is ‘development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’
  7. Green libraries are those which seek to minimize the negative and maximize the positive effects the building will have on the local environment, users and economy.”

I earnestly request you to complete the Questionnaire and click at the SUBMIT button within 15 days. I will sincerely appreciate your co-operation in this regard.

Thanking You in Anticipation.

Yours truly,

Neeta Gundawar.
