The Librarian is generally considered the most intelligent person in the world for he/she is having knowledge of every aspect of field be it science, social science or technology and sports. He/She seems to be ruling over the riches wealth of this universe in the form of books. But there are many a ways a librarian is faced with difficulties in professional career. Please share your bitter experience of being a librarian......

Niether any academician nor any professional can grow and reach their peak without taking assistance of a librarian. Librarians are like mother and father who give assistance (reference) without any personal interest and purpose.  Don't mine if not getting positive feedback.  KARAM KARO AAGE BADJAO! That is why Librarians are most prestigious and satisfied professionals among all professions.

A very true answer with true notion dear Akash
Bahot hi unda reply dear aakash

Good topics As an University Librarian I've seen some of my colleagues ruined their last day at the office while taking no dues certificate as a part of their retirement procedure. Believe me I found tears in their eyes while depositing a fat amount as a penalty for doing the good deed to favor the scrupulous readers who never bothered to  returned the books issued in the librarians/library staffs name. .... expecting more bitter stories from others.

Best regards

Dr Kaushik Bose

good pesonal experience shared by you Dr. Bose.
I just joined as Librarian in Khalsa College i.e. arts college and there is such a big library collection about one lac books and i m the single person who have to work for 1000 plus students and school libraqry is also not separate, its also in te same college library and its just me who is finding difficult to handle all people........students,staff, and the library has to be maintained as it has no cards wid its books and lots and lots of work to do.........it has rich collection but i need staff to make the library up to date.......doing hardwork these days........lets see wat happens
This is really sad situation of our profession in some organizations dear Sarbjit. You should take a stand and convince your authorities to intake more staff in the library.

Every Profession has some ups and downs.........But I feel neglecting Librarian in administrative set-up is the biggest blunder in this whole education set-up. Why can't a Librarian be the Principle of a school, when an art & craft teacher can? What is the set of traits to be the Head of an Institution which a librarian doesn't have? Why only  Librarian in a University or college should not be given responsibility as a administrator and even after 25-30 years of experience, retires as Librarian. I just can't understand this whole scenario?

A heart born and legitimate answer by you dear H.S. Sandhu

Dear Tarvinder

I had worked in many places from college, special colleges, technical college, university and research institutes too. One thing was always in common that no one want a librarian but they need him too. It means they want only work but no rules regulations or any bindings. In short they need clerks not librarian, who does not have  a voice too.

But sailing in the adverse water is what for we are meant. I like the way it is and start pushing things in order whether they like it or not but just keep doing at certain point you will find some admirers too.

Thus my basic aim/policy is that just keep doing work things will change but you must have determination too to resist the pressure.

This is all I would like to share with our colleagues.

regards

vrt

Dear Dr. V.R.Tiwari

Your response is very much true as the facts narrated by you depicts the narrow mindedness of people handling educational set ups towards library professionals. But the time has come and they need to awake that we are not an unwanted stuff in their respective organization.

Yes, for a time being sailing against the tide is right way to progress........as suggested by you.

Every LIS professional is free to share even personal experienes regarding this discussion.
