most Respected Prof. Bimalendu Guha (b.1926) [popularly known as B. Guha]
    left for his heavenly abode on 21st January, 2018 at 8.00 PM in his New
    Delhi (C R Park) residence. He issurvived by two sons. Prof. Guha joined
    INSDOC (Now NISCAIR) in 1956. After getting his Master's Degree in Library
    Science in 1950 from the University of Delhi, he joined the Indian
    Statistical Institute, Calcutta and worked for six years. In INSDOC, he was
    the veteran teacher in the Associateship in Information Science Course.
    Once, Prof. Guha was the regular contributor to the library science
    periodicals. Large number of his contributions were published in Annals of
    Library & Information Studies of NISCAIR. Apart from his regular teaching
    assignment, Prof. Guha contributed number of lectures in many institutions.
    The famous book entitled "Documentation and Information: Services,
    Techniques and Systems; Kolkata: The World Press, 1999" is the Bible to the
    LIS students and research scholars till date.
    Heartful consolation to his friends and family members. May the departed
    soul rest in peace.

Prof Guha was one of the finest gentlemen that I met In life, He was an outstanding teacher. He was simple, unassuming and very helpful to one and all, He was one of the stalwarts of the profession and he will be missed by one and all. 

Dr B Guha never be die , he always remain in our heart. My god given strength to his family to bear his absent.

It is indeed a very sad news. Admittedly, Sir passed away at a ripe age but it created a big gap in our profession. We grew up with reading his book Prof. Dutta referred to in his post. I personally believe that along with A.C. Foskett's book, they together not only completes the course materials for Information Storage & Retrieval in higher education of LIS but also help preparing a solid knowledge base on the subject. I had  some opportunities to meet and talk to him and I always struck by his updated knowledge. Prof. Seetharama has quite beautifully explained his gentle personality. He will remain in the hearts of thousands of his students and  streams of LIS professionals. May his soul rest in peace.
