Research in Library Science

Hi sir/madam

I am very much interested in research in Library and Information Science, but i dont know  where to start and how to start, how do i know that if i have selected one topic for research is already done by some other, i have qualified in UGC NET & SET, I have zero knowledge on research, please guide me on how to do research and how to select the  topic for research.
