Dear Muneesh

thanks for raising this important area.

I feel MOOCs are the need of hour in today's higher education scenario given the situations of set pattern of syllabus and examinations in the universities.

I have been teaching LIS for past 19 years and observed that MOOCs offers varied opportunities to reinvent and innovate new techniques of learning. It gives the developer the flexibility to design and develop the courses accordingly with the changing job market requirements; the traditional universities do not offer such opportunity. I think it is a good option if one pursues a regular course and take a few elective subjects through MOOCs. Traditional Universities do not offer many elective subjects. Moreover, the need of an hour is to study these elective at micro level meaning understanding a particular area with respect to practical applications. Most importantly, a MOOC developer can integrate faculty from diverse background and location to teach the MOOC. This would help the students to gain holistic knowledge of the subject.

Warm Regards

I fully support the view point of Anjani Gulati madam. Really its need of the hour.

thanking you,

Surajit.
