Hi,

     I am Kusum. I am doing job in college in (Rohtak) Haryana, I have done MA( HINDI), BE.D, M.LIB, M.PHIL(LIBRARY SCIENCE) and doing PhD in Dravidian University, A.P.

Now my question is what is the qualification needed for a Librarian job in College. Am I eligible or not.

Madam u r elgible for the post of college Librarian 

But college management are saying i m not eligible now.what should i do

sir not in govt college only management college like B.ED college........

For UGC scale MLISc and Net or Phd needed

Dear Madam

AICTE  approved Management Institute's Librarian Qualification (as per HRD Ministry & AICTE Notification 

Pay Scales and Career Advancement Scheme for Librarians etc:
(a) Assistant Librarian/ College Librarian:
Assistant Librarian/ College Librarian in the pre-revised scale of pay of
Rs. 8000- 13500 shall be placed in the Pay Band of Rs.15600-39100 with AGP of Rs. 6000.
(ii)All existing conditions of eligibility and academic qualifications laid down by the UGC shall continue to be applicable for direct recruitment of Assistant Librarian/ College Librarian.

as per UGC Regulation 2010 Librarian Qualification is 

1.  The minimum qualifications required for the post of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Professors, Principals, Assistant Directors of Physical Education and Sports, Deputy Directors of Physical Education and Sports, Directors of Physical Education and Sports, Assistant Librarians, Deputy Librarians, Librarians will be those as prescribed by the UGC Regulations 2010.

2. The minimum requirements of a good academic record, 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the master’s level and qualifying in the National Eligibility Test (NET), or an accredited test (State Level Eligibility Test - SLET/SET), shall remain for the appointment of Assistant Professors.

3. NET/SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities / Colleges / Institutions.

Provided however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges / Institutions.

As far as your question is concerned the reply given by Digambar Bhaurao Waghmare is absolutely right.

But it is again true that in many colleges like College of Education, where full scale of Rs. 15600/- is not offered, the minimum qualification of M.Lib.I. Sc. with 55% is sufficient. I was member of selection committee in one college of education in Fatehabad and Bhuna which are affiliated to CDLU, Sirsa. You may ask for the qualification for such colleges in Sirsa from the Dean of Colleges.

in management college only M.Lib is needed
