Anti Plagiarism Software (iThenticate and Turnitin) to be discontinued from 31st March 2015

This is to inform all concerned that due to breach of contract by M/s iParadigm, ย provider of ย Plagiarism detection software, ie. Turnitin/iThenticate, access to these software would not continue from 31st March, 2015 onwards. M/s iParadigm is insisting on price increase that the contract does not provide for. ย They have refused to provide access to one of the two products on last year's price through INFLIBNET which we have chosen for the year 2015-16.ย ย iParadigm is planning to chargeย exorbitant increase in prices from universities directly.

Final attempt to reason with representatives of M/sย iParadigmย did not yield any result even in a personal meeting with INFLIBNET higher officials. INFLIBNET Centre is not in a position to accept any price increase as per the contract. Therefore, we are extremely sorry to inform you that ย we are left withย no option but to discontinue access to these software/tool (Ie. iThenticate/Turnitin) to the universities.

INFIBNET Centre will be trying to select a new product at the earliest throughย retendering. The Centre is also considering to get a free and open source software/tools customised to our requirement. You may also give your valuable feedback for any product which is either free or open source or made / make in India.

If university is looking for a product using their own resources, please be careful about the cost that you pay now and increasing in cost once usage increases. We encourage you to use open source / free software in public and academic interest of the nation.

Inconvenience caused in this regard is highly regretted.
