madam , u raise the important issue relating to mutilation of library books,which is a serious issue like a country in India, becoz the govt and private sector libraries management think books are as articles, if they damage, we have to responsible,so we need to pay the amount or replace the book when we transfer or retire.This is the situation in all type of libraries.

I agree with you. The post of Librarian is a dignified one. If you go through the Universities Handbook, you will find Librarian along with the Vice-chancellor and Registrar of the University. We should not let down our profession
