IIT Delhi Library system is the early adapter of new and emerging technologies. Many of the libraries and library professionals of the country and abroad are taking advantage of our expertise and practices. The Central Library is fully computerized, using state of the art Integrated Library Management System and successfully running the RFID system for over a decade. Users have the freedom to self-Check-in or Check-out, round the clock using its RFID system as it generally remains open round the clock. We have our own DSpace based Institutional Repository, and all our Theses have been digitized and made accessible through the IR/NDLI/WebOPAC/Discovery Service/Library App platform. We also provide eNewsClippings, Faculty Profiling System (IRINS), Remote Access, Faculty Publications, Research Support Services & Outreach Programs, Scholarly Communication services, etc. The secured website on https has been developed In-House with Drupal, which offers a user-centric approach for the website-based Library Resources, Services, and Products. All the ICT based library services are provided through Cloud Computing, using BAADAL Cloud.

IIT Delhi being one of the top institutions of the country and IoE, having a great library system; has been declared as the National Resource Centre to offer the ARPIT MOOCs in Library and Information Sciences with the title, “Emerging Trends & Technologies in Library & Information Services (ETTLIS) by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The Central Library is also running high-value Library Projects as well.

The Central Library, IIT Delhi, is looking for young, enthusiastic and dynamic fresh post-graduates in Library and Information Sciences with a consistently good academic record to serve as Library Interns purely on a temporary basis for six months to one year. Persons with good communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to learn new skills and deliver services using emerging tools and technologies will be preferred.

Essential Qualifications: First Division in Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent. The applicant must have passed MLIS or equivalent examination in the year 2020 or 2021. However, those expecting MLIS final marksheet as above by the day of the interview may also apply. Candidates who passed the MLIS or equivalent examination before 2020 need not apply.

Remuneration: Consolidated stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month.

Duration: The internship position is purely on a temporary basis. The internship will initially be offered for six months, and based on performance; it may be extended for another six months. The maximum period of internship will be for one year only. Services are liable to termination with one month’s notice in writing given by either side. The Intern is required to work six days a week and can avail upto two Leaves in a month.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Also, there is no provision of Institute Accommodation for the Library Interns. However, the Central Library helps in settling down in the attached campus areas like Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, Jia Sarai, etc., where sufficient independent and shared accommodation is available for males and females.

Age Limit: Not exceeding 27 years as on November 15, 2021 (the last date of application).

Nature of Internship: Interns will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the Central Library and to learn the modern library management techniques and web-based services in Learn while you are Doing the Work in the Section manner.

Selected interns will be required to do shift duty on a rotation basis on holidays and until 9 PM as well.

Interested candidates who fulfil the criteria as mentioned above, may apply through ONLINE  GOOGLE FORM, available through Central Library, IIT Delhi Website (https://library.iitd.ac.in) on or before November 15, 2021, 5:00 PM, and upload recent passport size photograph (jpeg/jpg format), MLIS Marksheet/MLIS Degree and Matric Certificate (mentioning the date of birth). In case the result is awaited for the MLIS examination, the BLIS marksheet should be uploaded. Candidates are required to submit a hard copy of the duly filled application form, along with supporting documents  (each page duly signed) to “The Librarian, Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi-110 016” on or before November 22, 2021 (5:00 PM). IIT Delhi will not be responsible for any postal delay or non-receipt of the printed copy of the application alongwith the enclosures. Application, incomplete in any respect and without relevant documents as required, will be rejected.

The candidates shortlisted, will be called to appear for an Offline Interview. No request for the Online Interview will be entertained. The date for the interview will be announced in due course of time on the Library Website: https://library.iitd.ac.in. Candidates who have appeared for their final year/semester MLIS examination and are expecting the results before the interview date may also apply but must produce the final marks sheet of MLIS at the time of the interview, in proof of having passed the examination with First Division.
