Copyright on Books: Permissible Number of Pages for Photocopy

Dear Professionals,

As per copyright in India how many pages are permissible to get xerox/scan in a particular Text/reference book.

There is no specific Number of Pages....like five, ten...  http://www.copyright.gov.in/Documents/CopyrightRules1957.pdf 

But i hope normally allowed mentioned points here for research / teaching purpose.

  • A chapter from a book
  • An article from a periodical or newspaper
  • A short story, short essay or short poem, whether or not from a collective work
  • A chart, diagram, graph, drawing, cartoon or picture from a book, periodical or newspaper
