I feel the following will play import role in future:

(1) E-Books

(2) Library Portal suited for Patrons

(3) Open Access Journals

(4) Subscription of Online Journals and provision of secure access to Patrons

(5) Online Reference Queries

(6) Role in publication of Online Content by the parent organisation.

I have not list Library Automation in the above list. It is assumed to be already there.

Dear Mr Singh,

Definently this will in managing the library resource and providing better services to the library users/patron but what about the technology upgrade of the librarian, are we ready to accept the changes happening around. Big companies in the library technology field are working on FRBR, Facet Search engine, Digital Library (not just storage of scanned image) but e-books, e-journals, e-tabs (ipad, galaxy tab, etc).

FRBR and FACET (PMEST) is the base of the Google Search Engine / FRBR, any comment on that !

Thanks and Regards

R Sunil Kumar

Digital library already existed.According to the technological growth Semantic digital libraries can be expected. For that tools has been developed like Jerome DL project, BRICKS digital library project etc. So may be the semantic digital libraries are the next step. So the additional flexibility and search capabilities make a semantic digital library much more valuable than a traditional DL for an average user.
