Knowledge has become important productive factor for the modern digital

information system. The society will inevitably require intensified management of

knowledge .How to manage  knowledge will become an important subject facing

libraries in near future. Knowledge Management in Libraries should be focused on

effective research and development of knowledge, creation of knowledge bases,

exchange and sharing of knowledge between library staffs including its users, training

of library staff, speeding up explicit  processing of the implicit knowledge and

realizing of its sharing.  Economic environment and information environment is

changing quickly today. Since Knowledge management has become a powerful tool

for promoting innovation and  realizing reengineering the  various walks  of life, it

occupies very outstanding  position in the creation of the knowledge innovation

systems of a country. Hence it is very essential to focus on Knowledge Management

systems in Libraries and information centers by which the timely information service

can be provided to the online user society.

Thanks for you reply but i am looking for a pure discussion not an article on that.
A LIS plays alrounders role in knowledge management.
A LIS professional plays alrounders role in knowledge management.

Dear Sunita,

Will u explain it. we r talking about knowledge Management not Cricket.

MANAGEMENT=POSDCORB

P=PLANNING

O=ORGANISING

S=STAFFING

D=DIRECTING

CO=CO-ORDINATION

R=REPORTING

B=BUDGETING

 librarians working in various institutions plays all these roles, sothat he or she can be a alrounder in library science field(I am not talking about cricket ground)

Thanks a lot for your comments but its not solve the purpose what i am asking.

Well what doest it mean all rounder in library science. I m not getting.

regards,

yaseen

It means a librarian manage a library and play all these role in his/her library sothat work go on smoothly,kya alrounder cricket mai hi hota hai . kisi bhi feild me specialization hona hi all rounder ka kam hai,jo jis field mai master hai wo usi field ka alrounder

I think we have been diverted from the discussion, here we are not talking about all rounder we are trying to trace out the role of LIS in Knowledge Management. As LIS professional how do or can we contribute in knowledge Management.

That's it that i am asking.

I don't know why u people are so confused.  Please focus on topic only.

regards,

yaseen

Dear Mohammad Universe of Subject/Knowledge  can be classified as Science, Social Sciences/ Humanities.

We have the vast reservoir of knowledge in these fields and where does this knowldege resides?

There are the specialized agencies who are offering these databases in the respective fields  as Ebsco, Proquest, ABI/Inform, Scopus Capitaline, CMIE INDEST consortium etc. etc. They offer full text and abstracts articles.

In the library of course we have the Classification/Cataloguing, which forms the basis for managing the Knowldege in the Library where the knowledge resides in the orderly manner

Dear Madhu,

Thanks a lot for your comments but i could understand to read it that we the librarian are limited to only organizing the knowledge only. But as i observed or goig thru my professional experience we are more than a knowldege organizer. But i am trying get to know more about, as librarian what is my role in knowledge Management How can i contrubute in knowledge Managment.

Any way thansk a lot for your comments.

Reghards,

Mohd Yaseen
