May Artificial Intelligence help in library classification?

So many conferences and debates are taking place on role of Artificial Intelligence in LIS.  Can Artificial Intelligence help librarians in classifying the reading materials?

Thank you Sir, for initiating a good discussion on an interesting topic. All the replies above are enlightening. Personally, I'll be very happy if an exhaustive auto-classification scheme is made on the basis of CC. Is there already any research towards this? Or, something has been done?

Dear Bahni Madam,

Thanks for your kind words and your reply !

In my opinion the freely faceted scheme can only be suitable for an intelligent system. CC Seventh edition is almost faceted but problem is the coverage. It doesn't include latest subjects. The new edition gets too much time that's why people prefer DDC as it has been revising frequently in reasonable time.

The main problem is that the work of Dr. Ranganathan is not being extended by the librarians of India properly. The work of Sarda Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science is also very slow and not significant (in compare to the expectations).
